Sainsbury’s School Games Sportshall Athletics

Sainsbury’s School Games Sportshall Athletics

After an overwhelming number of children tried out for the Sportshall Athletics team, over 120 across KS2,

last week 36 children represented CPS at the Sainsbury’s  School Games Sportshall Athletics competition, in our shiny new sports team kits.

After numerous lunch time practices, our children took part in various races and field events, against 12 other primary schools, at Herschal Grammar School.  The year 3 & 4 team took part in the morning sessions.  Behaviour and sportsmanship were brilliantly demonstrated by our school throughout the morning and some excellent performances helped the school to third place.

During the afternoon it was the turn of year 5 & 6.  Although year 3 & 4 were impeccable in their behaviour, children from 5 & 6 took their performances through determination, attitude, sportsmanship and behaviour to another level.  In our heat all 12 races (apart from 2) were won by CPS.  The attitude to win was amazing with other schools commenting on the team.  Although the performances were excellent CPS were pipped to 1st place by Lynch Hill by a minimal amount of points.

Very proud of both teams and all staff that helped with the try outs, training and competition day.

Upcoming events are posted on the school PE board, please look out for this.
