Sainsbury’s School Games - Tag Rugby tournament

Another level 2 school sports event and firstly we wanted to say what an excellent response to school team try-outs this year.  Well done to all children that have attended a try-out so far.  It has been great to see different children attend these try-outs, each time we hold them.

The tournament itself was held at Slough Rugby Club, with a year 3 / 4 team and a 5 / 6 team entered into the tournaments.

Both team performed amazingly with only one defeat for each age group throughout the whole event.  The year 5 / 6 won all their matches up until the semi-final, where in extra time they lost to a golden try.  Even though the players felt aggrieved by the decision, it was great to see that they took the defeat with great maturity and graciously.

Our Year 3 / 4 team went one better than the semi-finals and progressed to the final.  After a superb game they lost eventually by one try to Lynch Hill Primary.  They received a silver medal for finishing second.

With over 300 children and 35 teams at the event we are proud of the players achievements and hope they are inspired to try Rugby outside of school.

What a great day with lots of fun, teamwork and great representation of the school, thank you to all staff that were involved with the training, organising and help on the day! Please click here for photos.
