Gardening Club Visit to Hampton Court Flower Show.
Monday 4th July and the Gardening Club head for the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
We were thrilled to see our Alien In Time scarecrow amongst at least sixty others. We then headed to the Butterfly Dome where we were able to view the life cycle of butterflies and experience them flying free and landing on us! We spotted an artist who painted beautiful butterflies on our hands.
The Conceptual Gardens were very thought provoking and we were lucky enough to meet the designers who explained their ideas to us. At the RHS Hub we were given free packets of seeds and postcards which were well received.
Suddenly, we spotted the Instant Gardener from the TV who chatted to us and let us have a photo with him. After purchasing a huge ice cream we all sat and watched scenes from As You Like It and The Taming of the Shrew celebrating the 400 anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare. The Floral Marquee was a riot of colour and scents and some of the group purchased plants and seeds. Finally, we returned to the scarecrows and looked at all the other entries. Tired out we returned to the coach to make the return journey to school.
The children were fantastic- a credit to the school.
